SDPI Enters Operational Implementation Phase Following Successful Public Tender

The Swiss Digital Pathology Initiative (SDPI) has reached another important milestone in its development. Following the successful completion of the public tender for the main implementation phase, both tender lots — project management and registry — have now been officially awarded.

This marks the formal transition of SDPI from the preliminary project stage into the operational implementation and pilot phase. SDPI is pleased to ensure continuity through the renewed collaboration with the established project partners, foresite AG and Tune Insight SA.

The focus now shifts to the project launch and the concrete implementation activities ahead. Over the coming weeks, SDPI will finalize the detailed project and milestone planning, confirm governance and collaboration structures, prepare agreements with participating universities, and coordinate the next implementation steps together with Tune Insight and SPHN. In parallel, the analysis of the existing digital pathology system environments at participating university hospitals will be updated.

The implementation roadmap will cover the period from 2026 to 2028 and includes the continued development of the SDPI Registry, integration with SPHN, pilot operations, and the phased expansion of SDPI beyond the initial participating centers to additional university, cantonal, and private hospitals across Switzerland.

SDPI would like to sincerely thank all partners and stakeholders for their valuable support and continued commitment. Their engagement will be essential for the successful launch of the implementation phase and for establishing SDPI as a sustainable national infrastructure for digital pathology.

Further updates regarding detailed planning and upcoming activities will be shared in due course. For any questions or additional information, please do not hesitate to contact the SDPI team via contact.
